Project context

For their store in Hamburg, PME Legend was preparing the next step in the rollout of an existing retail concept. The design direction was already defined. The focus of this project was not on redesign, but on improving the technical execution and production setup.

The challenge

The main challenge was to improve the existing furniture portfolio without changing its visual identity. This required a careful review of constructions, materials and finishes, while ensuring that new elements would seamlessly match the furniture already used in other PME Legend stores.

In parallel, the brand needed a reliable supplier setup that could support both this location and future stores.

Our approach

PRDCT WRKS was involved from a value engineering and sourcing perspective. We analysed the existing furniture portfolio and reviewed the technical construction of each item, focusing on feasibility, durability and production efficiency.

Based on this analysis, we optimised constructions where needed and translated the furniture into clear technical specifications suitable for production. We then managed the sourcing and selection of a new production partner and coordinated the production process.

Key materials included solid and veneered oak, hot-rolled steel and untreated steel. Particular attention was paid to matching finishes and details to existing furniture elements to maintain a consistent look and feel across the store.

The result

The final result is a technically improved and production-ready furniture portfolio that fully respects the original PME Legend store concept. The project delivered a reliable supplier setup, improved constructions and a solid foundation for future roll-outs. As an extra benefit we managed to optimize costs.

This case demonstrates how focused value engineering and sourcing can strengthen an existing retail concept without redesigning what already works.
